All garlic trials are planted in the fall, as previous research indicated that fall planting increased yields and quality of garlic in Saskatchewan.

Stiff-Neck Type

  • CGP Center Core (CGP)
  • Czech (SSS) – good stand and yields. Best yield multiplier. Purple skin.
  • FL F4 (FL)
  • Stiffneck (M+M) – high yields of large bulbs with very large cloves.
  • Music (SSS) – this very vigorous variety produces high yields of very large bulbs with medium-sized cloves.

Soft-Neck Type

  • Cedar (local)
  • Co-op (local)
  • Vessey’s (VE) – vigorous plants produce large bulbs with many small cloves.
